An overall score of 180–199 certifies C1 in this exam. Your institution may require a particular score or minimum results in individual skills.

Scores of 142–159 are reported without a certificate. Check Cambridge’s official criteria and the requirements of the receiving institution. Grade A certifies C2 ability in C1 Advanced; it is not the C2 Proficiency exam.

How much does Cambridge C1 Advanced preparation cost in Madrid?
At Exam Madrid you can choose 8 hours over four weeks for €200, 16 hours for €299 or 24 hours for €360. Groups have 3–5 students. Materials are included and there is no enrolment fee. Ask us about schedules and availability for your preferred option.
Are CAE and C1 Advanced the same exam?
Yes. CAE is the former name still commonly used for Cambridge C1 Advanced. The exam targets C1 level. C2 Proficiency is a separate qualification and a different exam.
What level do I need to start?
A solid B2 foundation is recommended for focused C1 preparation. If you are unsure of your level, contact us: we review your starting point before recommending a course intensity and plan.
Can I reach C1 in four weeks?
Four weeks is the length of each course block, not a guaranteed time to reach C1. Preparation time depends on your starting level, target and the practice you can do between lessons. Courses can be renewed.
Can I prepare for Cambridge C1 online?
Yes. We offer classroom lessons in Argüelles and live online preparation. Online lessons are a way to study; confirm separately with your exam centre how and where you will take the official exam.
Does the Cambridge C1 certificate expire?
The certificate has no expiry date, but universities, employers and other organisations may set a maximum age for the results they accept. Check their conditions before choosing your exam date and goal.
What score do I need for C1?
In C1 Advanced, 180–199 corresponds to C1; 200–210 certifies ability at C2. The overall result combines Reading, Use of English, Writing, Listening and Speaking scores. Your receiving institution may require a higher score or minimum results in individual skills.
Does the course include official exam registration?
Tuition and exam registration are separate arrangements. Ask an authorised exam centre about dates, fees, format and identification requirements. Enquiring about or enrolling on the course does not automatically reserve an exam place.
